Hey guys! Hope you had a great time reading this book as well as I did. I want to know your opinion of the characters of this story. Choose and discuss one or all of the following questions:
1. Should Batsheba have agreed to marry Gabriel at the beginning of the story? Would their marriage have been successful then? If not, why not?
2. Why would Batsheba never have been happy with Troy, even if he had lived?
3. Was Batsheba right to go on refusing Boldwood's proposals? Could they ever have been happy together? Why, or why not?
4. Which qualities do you think are the most important when choosing a husband or wife?

Regarding question 2, I believe Batsheba would have never been happy with Troy even if he had lived. The story clearly shows that Troy's feeling towards Batsheba were not real, he didn't love her as much as she loved him. Troy's real love was Fanny, but he might have had other reasons to marry Batsheba: a comfortable life, her money or simply the pleasure of marrying the most powerful woman in town.

i agree with you mister. troy did not love bathsheba only he thought to live comfortable and have money. Althought on the story Troy said he loves fanny, she is beautiful and his real love.

ACCORDING TO QUESTION 1, I THING THAT BATHSHEBA COULD HAVE AGREED TO MARRY GABRIEL BUT IT WOULDN'T HAD SENSE BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T LOVE HIM AND WHO WAS IN LOVE WAS GABRIEL NOT BATHSHEBA, FOR THIS REASON THEIR MARRIAGE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SUCCESFUL AND THEY WOULD HAVE DIVORCED IN A SHORT TIME, BUT IF SHE HAD TRIED TO LOVE HIM MAYBE THEY COULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY BUT IT WAS NOT SURE. DeleteAccording to question 4 I think that one woman or man have that search a people very responsible in their obligation so much personally and professional, but the most important is that all couple find love and respect in their relationship since if in the marriage not there compromise between these two qualities the relationship can be a total failure.

In response to the question#1 Bathsheba should have agreed the propose of Gabriel at the beginning of the story, so we wouldn't have had to read the whole book. It´s a joke!
ReplyDeleteI think that she should´ve agreed, but the destiny made her realize that she really loved Gabriel, and that they were meant to be together.
In response to the question#4 When I choose my husband, he have to be my boyfriend for several years. He has to be a responsible and respectful man, and above all, his goals with me, have to be well defined.

DeleteBathsheba would have never been happy with Troy even If he had lived. Troy would never loved Bathsheba because he was in love with Fanny. Actually, Troy said to Bathsheba that she did not mean anything for him despite of Bathsheba was in love with him. So their relationship would never will function. So Troy only were marry with she because she is powerful or probably because he wanted to enrich with Bathsheba's farm, I think so.

I AGREE WITH U, THAT´S TRUE SHE WOULD NEVER BE HAPPY WITH TROY HE WAS A BAD PERSON AND I THINK IF HE HAD LIVED SOMEDAY THEY WOULD SEPARATE BECAUSE HE LIKES TO SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY, HE DIDN´T LOVE HER AND SHE WAS GOING TO REALIZE OF THESE SITUATION I THINK A PERSON CAN´T LIVE MUCH TIME FOOLED.

However, I think that the great husband is a man who were responsible,who love me and who wants the progress for me and my family. But I have clear something that I don't have to choose a perfect men because the couple it's to complement the qualities that I have not find in myself.

In response to question#4 I think that choose a husband or wife is an important desicion that change your life, this must be thinking very well because this person is going to be your partner for all your life. Two characteristics are responsable and respect, the comunication is the key of relationships and for me this could be a googd husband. A man that love me and love my family is perfect for me. The perfect person don¨t exist but who complement me is okey.

Q#1: When I started reading the book, I knew it would finish like this. I dont know why but I felt that the love that Gabriel felt about Bathsheba was tender and real. In the end, if they would marry since the begining, we wouldn't read such a great story as this one.

Q#2: If Bathsheba would lived the rest of her life with Troy, she would never been happy because Troy was deeply in love with Fanny. Troy would never love Bathsheba as he loved Fanny. So, in that way nobody could be happy.

Q4#: In this question I don't know if you're are talking of real life. But I think that first of all you have to choose a person that you can keep a conversation on, because when you get old or sick, that's something you'll still having. That man or woman have to respect you, show you her/his love by respecting you that means, he/she must consider your feelings, your thoughts, etc. Furthermore, that person mustn't be in love of what you have instead of what you are. In the end, there are no secrets to choose the right person, this is all about what your heart feels.

Q#1 IF BATHSHEBA HAD ACCEPTED GABRIEL'S PROPOSAL, THE STORY WOULD HAVE CHANGED SINCE THE BEGINNING. BESIDES, BATHSHEBA DIDN'T LOVE HIM AT FIRST SO, THERE WASN'T A REASON WHY BATHSHEBA SHOULD HAVE MARRIED HIM. THEIR MARRIAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN A TOTALLY FALSEHOOD.
