Some people claim
that Richard Nixon was the worst president USA has ever had. After
studying his term, do you actually agree with this opinion? Do you think
the bad things he did can prevail over any good decision he might have
made? Do you think he was right to resign?
I think that often bad decisions outweigh that good decisions . As we studied the mandate of Richard Nixon the assumptions misunderstandings as soon as I was corruption and espionage given a bad image to the president, causing to the citizens to don't trust in the decisions that took responsibility . With regard to his resignation i think it could have been by a sense of guilt that had because everything that had made was discovering or simply because he thought he had no way to defend themselves. However, I believe that actions like the elimination of discrimination of genres and support of women are positive aspects son must rescue his mandate.

In my point of view, he was one the worst presidents that USA had because his bad decisions made that the country was in decline, Nixon was doing the things in a bad way, he was practicing the corruption in his government when we suppose that a president of a nation will be a person with honesty, ethic and transparency.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I consider that he took the right decision when he resigned to the presidency, a person with these characteristics couldn’t continue in the ruling, by the way, I agree with Mishell, I believe that he resigned because everything that he had made everybody was discovering or because he thought that he hadn’t any way to defend himself.

DeleteIt's true that during his administration lots of bad things happened, and you're right, his government was corrupt and the biggest controversial scandal he had was the Watergates Scandal. We all know spying our enemies is not the right way of defeating them, and Nixon did, but it wasn't his idea at all, he didn't even know about it at the beginning, and yes, when he realised about what was happening at Wategates he just washed his hands saying he didn't know anything. And that are some of the bad parts we can focus about Nixon.
But as everyone, we sould focus on the good things he did for the country, too. Like protecting the environment, ending the Vietnam war and bringing some of the troops back. I can't say that those are "small" things he did, because those were really good things he managed at his period in office. The fact is that bad or good president, He resigned for the good of the nation, and is in here where Gerard Ford took his place as the new president of The United Sates.

For me, Richard Nixon wasn't a bad president. Everybody makes mistakes. If we are refering about the watergate problem he wasn't the one who gave the initiative, he even tried to keep that affair in low profile, hiding the situation. But because of his workers persuasion he accepted in order not to tried to make the problem bigger. I think that his decision about resigning the presidency was the best one he could do because he knew that at some point he betrayed his nation and a better president could take charge of the matter. Anyways, we should not categorize him as the worst one but as a recognized one that could have been better with a right moral and values.
ReplyDeleteNixon’s presidency was one of the most controversial history at espionage and corruption was found. His contribution to the country is recognized with the environmental laws, the reduction of nuclear weapons, among others. It is not enough evidence to justify what he did. One of the few things that we could be observed with the Kent State Massacre and the Watergate Scandals are improper actions as a recognized person as a president. My point is what other bad things President Nixon did for his own benefit and it have not been published? With this explanation I say that the best decision of Nixon was giving up the presidency, because his words have not credibility. I could not say certainly that Nixon was the worst president in USA. My opinion is that we live in corruption worldwide and we don't know certainly if the other presidents was a corrupt persons too. Nixon is recognized because everything became public, but if his corruption had not been made public we would recognized him as a good president. But all have made mistakes and Nixon did a lot for his country. So for me he was a president who made a big mistakes but I could not say that he was the worst of all USA Presidents.

In my opinion Richard Nixon was the most controversial president in United States, because he did a lot of good and bad things . For example he created natinal laws that benefited to the enviroment and animals, he improve the relationships with China and put a limit to the Nuclear War, but he is observed for the watergate scandal and Kent State Massacre and this actions deleted the good things that he did . For me he is not the worst president that USA has had , buy I things he had a lot wrongs that ended in his resigned . Also I think, his resigned was the best best decision that he did because he did not have credibility and lot peeple critizice him.

ReplyDeleteunfortunately people always remember the negative things about someone, bad decisions, bad deeds and even bad experiences. It's easy to criticize people, talk about their flaws and weaknesses; but it is very difficult to see our own shortcomings.
We can not accuse or condemn anyone simply because he made a mistake, we can not forget the good things that person did.
Richard Nixon during his presidency did positive things, such as try to end the Vietnam War by reducing the number of weapon that the United States sent. Another positive aspect about Rchard Nixon is that he improved relations with Moscow and reopened the long-closed door to mainland China; something that is really importante for a country, specially if it is consider as the country that control the world. Those decisiones certainly reopened many opportunities to many people.
It is not fair to say that he was the worst president just because the Watergate problem, he need to remember that he algo developed some evirnmental laws during his presidendy. Morevoer, he eliminated the gender discrimination that women were suffering at that time. With Richard Nion, women had more participation in the society.
So before criticize someone, remember good things and bad things.
I don’t think that Richard Nixon is the worst president that United Stated had. I think that “worst” is a strong statement. It’s true that during Nixon’s administration, terrible things happened, like the Watergate Scandal and the Kent State Massacre. But you can’t erase good things someone did with bad ones.
ReplyDeleteFor example, Nixon created the “National Environmental Policy Act”, which protects nature and keep a balance between human and his environment. It also made possible the Clean Water Act, during his period as president.
Another reason is that in 1971, he signed the National Cancer Act, that helped funding cancer research why uploaded the survival rates to the ones fighting with this decease.
We don’t have to forget that he created the Department of Energy and the Department of Education, in the 70s. It means that before, presidents weren’t so concern that kids had the same education, in all parts of the country.
It’s true that this facts doesn’t make him look a little better because, let’s be honest, the 52 hostages that were captured in Iran in 1979 and were only released when Reagan took office, made him look weak. It doesn’t mean he was the worst.

There are some facts that include all good and bad things about a person. I consider that each president around the world has successes and failures in their periods. Richard Nixon was a person very humble. He had the politics as a vocation and is a very good thing his anticommunist thoughts. In spite of his rules that impose in his govern, there were somethings bad applied Some people said about using politic financiation procedures unjustified and obviously is contradicted. He was very strong but in the same time he was able to lie using some people with personal interests. I suppose he was very obsessed by the power and for this reason he made the worst things in the history of USA presidents. For example the use of money in order to cover the responsibilities of his workers.
ReplyDeleteI have seen that the Watergate was most important than Nixon presidence. Thanks to this there were some laws in order to transform the politic system, However as people said , all bad thing bring another good one for example there were more exgibibles aspects applied to public workers.
Really I can’t say about one position, Nixon made something good, he had his successes as failures. But also I can say that I don’t like corruption, and is a common aspect in governments around the world.

Personally I think that the actions and the decisions that took Richard Nixon make him the worst President because he made that USA were involved in an economic crisis after that the last President eliminate in a certain percent the poverty in some places. His actions such as elimination of segregation in schools , National Environmental Policy Act , etc were not enough because of the watergate scandal and the corruption . Additionally his resigned ended with another problems that could have appeared and his popularity declained so he would not be elected for other term.

I do not think that Richard Nixon was the worst president USA has ever had. No one is perfect even a president; they can make mistakes and take bad decisions. In addition in the course we studied the major achievements of USA presidents and also the negative aspects of their terms. Until now we have not has a president without a stain. I agree with my classmates, when you do something well people remember it for a time and then they forget it but when you do something wrong, people focus their attention on you and make the problem bigger. I think that he was right to resign because people did not want him as a president anymore. If he had kept his position, maybe there would have been dissatisfaction among the North Americans and there could be protests and riots calling for his resignation.

In my opinion, Nixon was not the worst president of USA, yes he was a spy and investigate his opponents, but if you look it in a different way, you can consider that he was intelligent, because he sent people to do it, so he could just wash his hands and say "that´s not my problem because I didn´t do anything"

In my opinion, I think that Nixon was one of the worst president in the American History, beacuse he made some things good, but at the same time, he also did bad things. In many ways which I know about them, he created the environmental laws, the reduction of nuclear weapons, among others. He also motivated to women to participe more in the society. However, as people said presidents not always can be honest, but he must find the better option for the country and citizens. Finally one of the most important things was that this president wanted to eliminate the discrimination and segregation to all people can considered equally.

This was one of the biggest political scandals in American history, and led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. I think that he was right to resign because he had to be conscious that he didn't have the support of people after what happened and maintain his position as a president could become another problem.
But for me, Richard Nixon was not a bad president he ended Vietnam war, signed a treaty with China, put a man on the moon, 18-year-olds get the right to vote and environmental protection agency was created etc, etc...
All of us make mistakes and only God can judge us!!.

In my opinion he was not the worst president, even though, USA was involved with the economic crisis, the kent state massacre, and also he made a scandal when he wanted to be reelected again. He had great policies, one of those policies was "peace and honor", it consisted in a peace treaty to stop the vietnam war, also he reduced the use of nuclear weapons and he was against school discrimination. I think that Nixon was a president who took bad decisions and that's why he resigned and Ford became the president without the people's vote.

In my opinion, Richard Nixon was not a bad president. He just took bad decisions. As a result, people disagree in his way of thinking. He was in a controversial trouble that was called Watergate. That a lot of people were involved in the scandal. Also he had the Kent State case that consist of four student died during an act of rebelling due to Americans troops.

Being a president, gives you enemies, and being The president of The United States of America will give a large number of enemies, those people will always talking about what you do, Some people say that Nixon was the worst president of the United States because they only tell the bad part of the story they only remember his errors, but What about the good things, Making enviromentals laws was for me one of the best thing that Richard could made and He also was against school discrimination, and that was a good point, He made bad things, but Also the good things help the country to advance a little, If All those scandals and troubles weren't came out Noone would be saying that He wasn't the best president.

In my opinion, Richard Nixon was not the Worst president The United States had, but he also wasn't the best, He made a lot of good things to help the country, like more laws to help the environment, that's an example of something good, he was conscious that nature also need help so he made a lot about it. But as every human, Nixon also has his mistakes, having a corrupt government next to him and being himself a corrupt president, but the worst thing of his presidency is The watergates scandal and even though he wasn't related with it at the begging, he did not do anything to stop it when he discovered the spying at Watergates.

It is true, Nixon did indeed do a few good things, but a majority of what he did was completely illegal. In all the examples you brought up the President's questions were definitely questionable as to whether they were ethical, but none of the Presidents broke the law.

The Office of the President was blurred by Richard Nixon in such a manner that the White House became a joke to the American people and a laughing stock to the rest of the world. Richard Nixon should have resigned as he did and should have been edited for his crimes.

He fought for the peace and improve the relationships with China and put a limit to the Nuclear War. Unfortunately nobody is perfect and he was involved in the watergate scanda. The attack to Cambodia brought consequences such as manifestations and The Kent State massacre. I believe that Nixon was right to resign because he hadn´t the support the american people.
